Soundtrack – Winds of Defiance (Flow Woman Stage)

I’ll be putting up previews and little bits of new songs I’m working on every once in a while. Just as a little present for whoever follows this blog.

This was originally composed by Damien Arancibia and arranged by me.

Here is a preview of an upcoming song. It’s the song for Flow Woman’s stage and it’s very unfinished. It’s sounding kind of empty so far, but from what I’ve got I think it’s fairly alright. I think Damien and I are going to have to add a few more layers to it. My idea to make it sound less empty is to create a harmony for the first section instead of leaving it as single notes with the countermelody.

I’ve also got to say, chiptuning is hard. It’s difficult to have to regulate everything in the song so it doesn’t sound jarring, which this song kind of does at the moment, so that needs to be fixed. You always have to pay attention to the kinds of notes you’re putting in and what’s playing at the same time and making sure the percussion keeps the momentum of the song going. It’s a lot to work with.

Piano Version

UPDATE

I worked more on the song. It’s very clearly not complete, but I’ve improved the instruments by a fair bit:

MORE RECENT UPDATE (7/12/16)

It’s very similar to the last updated version, but this one has more in the countermelody, pitch slides have been added, the percussion has been completed and there have been many smaller unnoticable touch-ups here and there. This is pretty much the final version.
