Enemy Ideas?
« on: September 29, 2016, 06:44:19 PM »
While I haven't started working on stages or even Mavericks yet, I'm looking for a few extra enemies to add to make the game more fun.

Any ideas are appreciated ^^

Hmmm... Maybe a yoyo enemy, where it does various yoyo tricks to attack you?

Hm.. Possibly something similar to the yoyo enemies from Battle Network, but with much more complicated tricks?

Sounds great! I already have a rough design in mind!

Well I can't tell you any ideas but I can give a direction for what types you need. Because its an X game you're gonna need enemies with a more serious type of style. If you compare the look of the enemies between the two series's, you can tell the X series has more serious types of enemies while Classic has a cartoon like style of foes. Then again, I'm not sure what you are going for but if you need a style guide, here's a method  :)

I agree completely... an X series game would never have a YoYo boss.  :)  These bosses need to be daunting and challenging with some heavy hitting attacks.

Yeah, I was going with a more mechanical design like a variation of a float gunner. Still, I got caught up with other things that needed to be made, so didn't get the chance to start working on it so far.

I meant as a normal enemy. I don't think a yoyo is a type of animal. Lol

If I was to be a concept designer, I would be much better with MegaMan Legends. On there I can really do a lot with enemies and characters. The other series's not so much. Honestly, a small reaverbot-like enemy would be cool as a cameo. (Im talking about a Zabokan btw)

What you could do is throw a new spin on an old enemy. What MegaMan enemy is more old/iconic than the Mettuar?

Perhaps a Mettuar that you can't shoot, but you have to dash into it to flip it over before attacking?

Or a Mettuar that doesnt reflect your shots, but absorbs them, and after a set number of hits, sends one big blast towards you?

Or maybe one that charges at you with it's shield tht you have to jump over and shoot from behind before it stops charging forward and stops to shield itself.

The Mettuar has a very simple design, but you can go miles with it alone.

Good idea... I think a bad ass X version of a Sniper Joe would be awesome as well.  :)

Those both sound like pretty good ideas!

A new design and new behaviors could be used, and even specialized versions for different stages could work!

I will start working on some concept art soon

Perhaps a Maverick named Chronal Coyote, whose stage is littered with enemies pulled from past and future games? A miniboss could be the dragon from MegaMan 2's Wily Castle 1? It'd be a great nostalgia smash, but also be localized to one stage and Maverick so that the rest of the game can be used to explore new frontiers.

Speaking of such, It'd be great if X could aim his busters in 8 directions. That way you could add more puzzles and a new way to approach enemies.
